A crime-infested tire shop closed through coordinated action.
OPDA, N.O.D.I.C.E., NOPD, and the ATF collaborated to seize and shutter 1201 N. Claiborne Avenue following sustained criminal activity, quality-of-life violations, and community complaints.
Verified Findings: Data showed people were 28 times more likely to be a victim of crime at Claiborne and Esplanade.
More than 46% of all incidents in the entire corridor originated from the 1200 block alone.
This historic community victory was made possible by Treme residents, NOPD 1st District, the ATF, City Homeless Services, Code Enforcement, state and local partners, and neighborhood leadership.
